Abstract
|
|
|
A case of branchial cyst occurring in a 28-year-old airman was reported.
Grossly, it was located in anterior border of right sternocleidomastoid muscle and. measured 4.0 cm. in diameter. Cut sectionings revealed rather thick wall with prominent lymphoid structures. The cyst was well circumscribed and the lumen contained a small amount of thickk mucoid materials. Microscopically, lining epithelium was of, stratified squamous type. Subepithelial stroma consisted almost entirely of lymphatic tissue having well formed follicles and intervening sinusoidal structures.
Authors also discussed the histogenesis of this cyst´ along the line of "cystic lymphnode" rather than branchiogenic origin.
